Since the country began COVID-19 vaccination on March 15, 2021, the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib, revealed on Friday that a total of 8,439 mild Adverse Events Following Immunization have been registered across Nigeria.
Shuaib made the announcement at a joint press conference held by the NPHCDA and the World Health Organization in Abuja to inform Nigerians on the COVID-19 vaccination campaign's status.

He said that five states have the best AEFI records: Kaduna (970), Cross River (859), Yobe (541), Kebbi (511), and Lagos (511). (448).
The head of the NPHCDA, on the other hand, stated that no deaths or cases of blood clots had been recorded in the country as a result of the vaccine's administration.
“In Nigeria, a total of 8,439 mild Adverse Events Following Immunization have been registered since the vaccination program was officially rolled out on April 15, 2021,” he said.

“These include everything from discomfort and swelling at the inoculation site to body aches and nausea. Similarly, 52 cases of AEFI ranging from mild to serious have been recorded.
“Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, and allergic reactions were all symptoms. The following five states have the best AEFI records: Kaduna (970), Cross River (859), Yobe (541), Kebbi (511), and Lagos (511). (448).
“There has been no mortality as a result of the vaccine administration. We have also found no evidence of blood clots as a result of the vaccine administration.
“However, we are collaborating with NAFDAC, NCDC, and other related agencies to create a more active surveillance system based on our polio surveillance experience.”
