In order to unite the people rather than for divisive reasons, religious leaders in the country were called upon to still use their separate weekly sermons. During a 2-day security awareness seminar for juma'at mosque imams and other Islamic religious leaders in Katsina state, Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state made the call. The seminar for both the juma'at mosque imams and other Islamic leaders is a continuation of the efforts of the state government to find a permanent solution to the problem of banditry that ravages the state.The problem of banditry and other related crimes in the state, Governor Masari said, is due to people's ignorance and analphabetism that can only be solved by religious leaders and priests.He regretted that bandits' activities in the security sector, particularly governments in the region concerned, have now overtaken the Insurgency in Boko Haram and called for synergies between all key players in the security sector to find a permanent solution. For his part, Ibrahim Katsina, the seminar organizer and special advisor to the Governor on safety issues, claimed that religious leaders are partners, and that therefore they must support government efforts in order to create a growing spectrum of crime in the state.The Emir of Katsina Abdulmuminu Usman urged the Islamic clerics to continue admonishing their teeming followers in the right steps.
